A woman who claims to be a prophetess, Victoria Okere, has been arrested by policemen attached to the Ikeja Divisional Police Station of the Lagos State Police Command, for alleged complicity in the abduction and defrauding a man identified as Wisdom Aworegbe, of the sum of N3 million.
Okere
who told the police that she is in charge of the New Revelation Church,
in Oke-Ira, Ogba area of the state, was arrested after relatives of the
man lodged a complaint with the police.
It was
learnt that the victim, a business man, was attempting to sell a house,
belonging to his elder sister to the suspect, when the bubble burst and
while the police insisted that the prophetess abducted the man, it has
emerged that the victim was brainwashed by the prophetess.
Commenting on the case, a police source said:
“What
the man’s relatives told us was that the woman abducted him and
collected N3,000,000 from him, within a month. But we are of the belief
that she brainwashed him and he was not in his senses all along."
